In an attempt to learn from Title IX allegations sweeping higher education, College of the Holy Cross is creating guidelines informing faculty/staff interactions with students. This has presented a number of challenges, including questions regarding the faculty's role with students and the challenge of applying abuse prevention principles. This session will explore why this journey to create safer interactions among adults remains relevant, what implementation considerations are necessary, and what lies ahead.

Objectives:
+ Understand historical norms as it relates to faculty/staff interactions with students
+ Discuss why these norms may be changing
+ Understand why and how the College of the Holy Cross is seeking to implement a framework around faculty/staff interactions with students
+ Have an opportunity to learn about the successes and challenges Holy Cross experienced in rolling out new abuse risk controls including workgroup composition, faculty/staff training, focus group feedback, format considerations (policies vs guidelines), leadership and stakeholder buy-in, how reporting shifted (source, content, and channel), and what is left to retool
+ Understand how to use this case study to create a roadmap for your campus
